Product Description
BBI proudly introduces the latest issue in its Elite Force series of authentic military 12- inch figures, President George W. Bush in naval aviator flight suit. Exacting in detail and fully equipped with authentic gear, this limited-edition action figure is a meticulous 1:6 scale recreation of the Commander-in-Chief's appearance during his historic Aircraft Carrier landing. On May 1, 2003, President Bush landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) in the Pacific Ocean. While at the controls of an S-3B Viking aircraft from the "Blue Sea Wolves" of Sea Control Squadron Three Five (VS-35), designated "Navy 1," he overflew the carrier before handing it over to the pilot for landing. Attired in full naval aviator flight equipment, the President then took the salute on the deck of the carrier.
This fully poseable figure features a realistic head sculpt, fully detailed cloth flight suit, helmet with oxygen mask, survival vest, g-pants, parachute harness and much more. The realism and exacting attention to detail demanded by today's 12-inch action figure enthusiast are met and exceeded with this action figure. This incredibly detailed figure is a fitting addition to the collection of those interested in U.S. history, military memorabilia and toy action figures. Actual figure may vary slightly from item shown. Note: some plastic accessory trays inside the commemorative display box may have extra spaces.
Elite Force Aviator: George W. Bush - U.S. President and Naval Aviator - 12" Action Figure Review
fan of the guy or not, it should be clarified what this figure represents. George W Bush briefly flew a navy s-3 viking (along with the actual pilot of that craft) to give a speech aboard the USN abraham lincoln. this was the infamous "mission accomplished" speech. mistakeningly referred to as claiming the end of formal military action in iraq in the media, the sign was actually placed on the carrier's command island to celebrate the end of that particular mission the lincoln had engaged in (this is according to the ship's captain as seen in a news interview immediately following the inaccurate and rabid news coverage critical of the {fabricated} message). after the end of this specific mission, the lincoln with her crew was sailing on it's return to american waters. pres bush took this opportunity to congratulate the crew on their accomplishment and to address the american people on the shift in tactics after the successful initial stage of the invasion. if you look closely at the figure's flight suit you can see his proper rank displayed as comander-in-chief. after briefly taking controls of the s-3 upon recieving permission from the pilot, he officially became a naval aviator, honoring his father George H W Bush, a former president and also the youngest naval aviator to serve in WWII (who was also shot down and rescued after one particularly fateful bombing mission). George W's previous flight experience included a type rating for the f-102 during his survice with the texas national guard. so, this is 100% historically accurate.now, on to the figure directly. bbi produced extremely high quality and realistic 12 inch figures representing various militaries and specialties from around the world. this particular figure has a base of the previously released fighter pilot with a new head scuplt and insignia appropriate to represent the president of the united staes at that time. i bought two of these, one to open and display as a generic pilot and one to keep as an historic momento. i can't speak highly enough of the likeness and the quality of detail and workmanship. for the price, it's hard to find a better representation of US naval flight gear from this time period. as an historic piece, it is an extremely good conversation starter and representation of a very devisive, temultuous, and pivotial time in the history of the american empire. i highly recommend purchasing this. again, if you hate the guy or not, you can't deny how eye catching and influential this figure is and what it represents.
