Zometool - Crystallography Kit Review

Having suffered though graduate school crystallography (MS in Ceramic Engineering) I find this kit awesome for the "spatially impaired" to help visualize the standard crystals. I now use this in teaching my courses in basic materials and intro to solid state chemistry.

Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses: Magical Dance Castle Review

I was lucky to find this castle on sale for 29.99. I don't think that I would have paid 79.99. However, the look on my daughter's face when she opened it was priceless. The assembly is not hard, but not much fun. I would recommend putting it together before Christmas and putting a bow on it, so your little princess can play right away.

My daughter's favorite part is the music and turning dance circle. Even though the castle is two-sided the only part in the castle that my daughter has played with is the dance circle. My daughter has played with the expandable bed more than anything. If the castle didn't play music I don't think my daughter would even play with it. I am glad I got this, but it really is not that well made.

I am big Marvel Legends collector, and I, like many others, was worried when Hasbro took over the line from ToyBiz. However, I've been generally pleased with what I've seen from them so far, and this Namor figure from the Marvel Legends Fantastic Four (Ronan) wave is my favorite offering from Hasbro yet. This is the second Marvel Legends Namor figure to be released. The first was released a few years ago from ToyBiz in series 2 (I think). That version of Namor had him clad in a full black body suit that he only wore for a brief time in the comics. Fans weren't that happy, because it wasn't the classic version of the character. This figure, at last, features the Sub Mariner in his much more well known look, wearing a green "speedo". The figure is well sculpted and well articulated. (Not as much as the old ToyBiz figures, but still better than most). The figure is well made and looks great. If you're a fan of Marvel Legends, this one is a must have.

Fisher-Price Motorized King Car-nivore Review

The main reason why we bought this product, was because of the go ape feature. The toy worked well for about two weeks, but then the go ape feature stopped working. We changed the battery, but there was no change. I called Mattel and explained the problem to them. I was instucted to return the product to them (at my expense)and they would exchange it for a brand new one(they would cover shipping cost).

Hasbro Playskool Weebles Weebalot Castle Review

We bought my 18m daughter this for a Christmas present this year and she loves it. Out of all the toys she got this year, this one seems to be the one she enjoys the most. She loves to push the weebles down the slide and around all the different parts of the castle. The part she has the most fun with is the moat. There is a button on the bridge in the back of the castle that makes the moat spin.

I have 2 tiny issues with this toy (and why it only got a 4 instead of a 5).

The spinning of the moat makes my daughter want to put EVERYTHING on it to spin. Its perfectly safe and nothing spins off, but not all the items/furniture that came with the castle can FIT in the moat well and I keep having to pull the horse and table out so it doesn't jam the moat.

Second is that the furnature does not all fit on/in the castle. The table doesn't stay well and if you have the table in, the weeble bed can't really be in it. I would suppose that you could play with the furniture outside the castle (and maybe my daughter will when she's a bit older) but it makes keeping the items together a little harder. I fully expect one or several of the furniture pieces to end up buried somewhere else in the house. The toy is adorable and fun but I would prefer the furniture fit and maybe snap into the castle.
