The first decoder I received couldn't be programmed, it was quickly replaced by Amazon. The second worked great and was easy to install and reprogram as my layout evolved. The sound isn't very loud, after all the speaker is about the size of a nickel, but realistic. Some had told me not to put in sound but I know it adds to my layout. Overall I'm very satisfied.
