I wiped out recently and lost some skin which kept me from skating for a few weeks. This made me break down and get some protective gear. Besides, I want to do some skate marathons and they require it anyways. These knee pads are more than I expected as the neoprene sleeve and straps ensure the pads stay on your knee (as a hockey player nothing is worse than falling when your knee pad is not on your knee like it is supposed to be). More importantly, they are breathable and don't really interfere with my stride. I am glad I finally broke down and bought some real pads even if they were more expensive.
