It's simply put...a perfect figure! The drone is so well painted you find more and more details whenever you look at it!
From all the NECA Gears of War action figures I've bought (I have 3 of them, 2 Gears and 1 Locust), it's the one who shows the best quality paintjob.
The vest, gloves, pants and boots are flawless, with a special detail to the left hand glove with the buckles. It adds up to a truely breathtaking set of details.
Like all the series 3 products, this comes with the attachment for weapons on the back, and you can fit the machinegun perfectly to the drone's vest (it will hold for as long as it stays there, but it won't stay tight and THAT steady so you gotta watch out while handling the figure around, once it might cause the gun to set loose and fall).
This drone comes with 4 weapons in the box - a blaster, the - awesome! - machinegun you see in the game, a pistol (with a proper, functional leg holster) and a locust hand grenade - not to mention the knife attached to his left leg, but that one doesn't come out so don't bother trying.
All the guns are beautifuly painted and look very sturdy - the only downside of it is the fact that the grenade doesn't come with a place to store it in the figure (you'll pretty much leave it in the box or lying somewhere near the drone).
Another thing that can be nagging is the fact that the blaster also comes without a holster, and it doesn't have a pin like the machinegun so you can't attach it to the drone's back, which means it will be the weapon of choice for display. That may pose as a problem when moving the drone around, once the gun - altho looking very cool in the figure's hand - stays kinda loose in it. It's not the perfect fit but it'll do once these figures weren't meant to be moved around and reposed all the time.
The joints are - as any of the NECA figures - VERY VERY specific (they might as well issue them with a steady pose anyways, since you don't get too many options for posing). The left arm has one forearm and one biceps joint and one for the wrist, which makes it the "moving" arm of the figure. The right arm is pretty much static, aside the wrist joint what you see is what you get. The legs move perfectly and the feet turn in a 360 degree radius (which is awesome for posing it while standing still).
The figure is heavy and holds in its own, both legs have the same set of joints and you can bend the drone's knees slightly to get it a steady stance.
His face looks mean and ready for action, with sharp teeth exposed. If you like the Drone's head and his face details this isn't the figure for you. The first time I bought the figure I thought the cyclops helmet would go off but it DOESN'T. So NO trying to yank the helmet out of his head - unless you're looking for a gory locust decapitation! -. Lucky for us, the helmet can be raised so you'll get a good look of his mean face!
So, here's my overall view of this toy:
Sturdyness - 10/10
Paintjob - 10/10
Moving parts, joints - 9.5/10
Weapons - 9/10
Level of detail - 15/10 (yes, I said fifteen outta ten!)
Three mutant thumbs up for this little bad boy!!
