Product Description

Street Fighter Revolutions round one will consist of R Mika, E. Honda, Zangief, and Dhalsim. Fans have been asking for these figures since Street Fighter round one and SOTA is finally delivering! These figures are a little more Anime style, but still have same level of detail and articulation you expect from SOTA Toys!

Sota Toys Street Fighter Revolution Series 1 Action Figure Zangief Review

Zangief was suppose to be in Round 5 of SOTA's Street Fighter series. Then Sota's owner Jerry sold his company and SOTA became "New Sota". Round 5's roster got ignored but Zangeif still made it to "New Sota"'s Street Fighter Revolutions Series 1.
It took them a couple of years to finally release Revolutions 1. Since "New Sota" took over the quality of the plastic used for the figures somewhat decreased into a disappointing level. However Zangief is one of the better ones so far. Both Zangeif and R.Mika have the better quality than say E.Honda and Dhalsim in Revolutions 1 series.
Zangeif is a big figure. He's close to Sota's Round2 T. Hawk or even slightly taller because of his hair style. At first glance, you'll notice the ugly huge ball joint used on Zangief. It's really annoying! That might be really annoy some people but once you get to play around with the figure you'll easily forget about it (like me).
The sculpting for this figures is great. It's not as good as the previous Sota Round1-4 figures. The sculpt for the Revolutions series are some what less smooth. I don't know what happened during the sculpting process, the hands on all of the figures are rough. It'll take some time to get used to. The head sculpt seems like a blend of Alpha/Zero game sprite and SF2 to me. It's a more action pose expression which I much prefer than the early prototype shown in San Diego Comic Con.
The articulation is great for Geif. You can pose him in all sorts of poses starting with the spinning pile drive and his grabs. "New Sota" really perfected the ball join ankles and the joints move smoother than the old Sota figures. It's a good thing in a sense but depending on the figure it might get too loose on the hips.
Overall I am really a huge Street Fighter fan so I let a lot of minor details get away. It's a great figure and Sota still did a great job with continuing the Street Fighter series even though there was no new game to support them back then. Of course we now have Street Fighter IV and NECA took over the figure license but back then when Sota started there was no more hype on Street Fighter and Jerry was just making these figures hopeing to get the suppor of fans which he did.
