Police Force Pursuit Review

My 5 yo son discovered the wonderful world of Lego's this week and was instantly hooked, he had a late Christmas present arrive over the weekend and instantly started adding different sets to his "Birthday wish list"! We took a drive today to a discount store for him to get another set to work on and we found the Mega Bloks Blox Squad sets, they were some pretty impressive looking sets that were well in my price range... and on sale. He really liked that it made three vehicles and the boat trailer!

He has been playing non-stop since we got home, with a brief stop for dinner. He's finished the trailer and is working on the boat as I type this. He has already told me that he prefers the Mega Blocks over his Legos because of the instructions, they are clearly labeled in steps {like Legos} but they go a step further and tell you how many pieces of each sized block you need to complete each step. He has Autism so I'm not surprised in the least that this appealed to him and that he noticed that detail within seconds of opening the instruction booklet!
*Just a side note: My son put this entire set together with only a little assistance from me, and that was when he started getting tired, so I would have him take a break. It is not a set they will put together in a short time... it's a large set. It took him three days working on and off. He was extremely proud of himself for being able to do it all by himself! I was proud of him for the patience that he showed and his ability to problem solve when he had made a mistake.

The pieces do not come separated by vehicle like the Lego sets tend to but I solved that by getting a couple of plastic containers and putting all of the tiny pieces in one container, medium sizes in another and the large pieces in another. He's had no problems quickly finding the pieces he needs to do each step. And I was happy to notice that the pieces are compatible with his Lego sets, so that was a nice bonus!

I would definitely recommend this for any child who likes these building sets, the quality appears to be as good as the Lego sets and the prices are much more reasonable! I will definitely be sticking with the Mega Blocks brand!
